My Honest Review Of The Shark FlexStyle

There are constantly new hair tools coming out and most of the time I am very unenthused about trying them, because as a hairstylist, I feel that I am able to use the staples — a good blow dryer, curling iron, or flat iron, to achieve a similar result without spending the money and having another tool to stick in my bathroom drawer and take up precious space.

To be fully transparent, I have held off on trying the dyson airwrap because I felt the price was more than I am willing to spend on a tool that I can get the same look using a blow dryer and round brush. So, when one of my clients (shout out to Bianca!) mentioned that Shark had a similar tool I was immediately intrigued. Especially because its less than half the price. So I decided to pull the trigger and buy it to try it out for myself.

I bought it with my own money so just know this post is not at all sponsored or an ad, its my complete honest opinion. With that said, I was nervous to buy it because I have tried other roundbrush blowdryers and they have just been “meh”. So I worried I would have the same feelings towards the Shark FlexStyle.

OUT OF THE BOX

Immediately opening the box and taking out the base, I could tell this tool was high quality. The cord is durable, and base isn’t made out of cheap plastic. As a hairstylist, I have used many hot tools and im not lying when I tell you I could tell just by holding the FlexStyle before even using it, that it was legit.

FIRST USE THOUGHTS

I love that it folds to a 90 degree position and comes with a concentrated nozzle attachment so it can easily feel like and be used as a traditional blow dryer. I started with wet hair and used it in this position to get my hair mostly dry. Then I attached one of the “air wrap” wands to try out.

There is definitely a little bit a learning curve to using those attachments, but I feel like that is to be expected as its a new type a styling tool thats really unlike anything else. After doing a few curls I started to catch on to how to get the curl I was aiming for.

I have naturally frizzy texture and the FlexStyle did a great job and not only creating curls but smoothing my hair. I was honestly so impressed.

WOULD I RECOMMEND IT

YES. A 1000%. I honestly have racked my brain trying to come up with a reason why people shouldn’t try it, and I cant. If you are considering it, just do it. If you have been thinking about getting the Dyson Airwrap, I would say save some money and get the FlexStyle.
